Why Fultondale Homeowners Trust SWAT

The middle of Fultondale is about twenty-five minutes from our Alabama office on Alton Road in Irondale, by I-20 West. Most days we can look at your roof the same day you call, whether you’re in Chapel Hills or along the I-65 corridor. The city requires a permit for any work over $250, which covers nearly every roof job, so we take care of it before we start.

Fultondale became a city in 1947, when Fulton Springs and Glendale merged. Its roots are in coal, starting with the Mary Lee mines in the 1870s. The typical home here was built around 1987. On houses that age, the flashing (the metal that seals around chimneys and walls) and the rubber boots around plumbing vents can be older than the shingles when they weren’t replaced during a re-roof, and they tend to leak first.

Many roofs here went on after the January 2021 tornado, so they’re about five years old now. We check that the flashing and vents from that rebuild are still sealed tight, and we look for limb damage from the November 2025 storm. We also walk the roof to feel for soft spots in the decking, the wood under your shingles. You’ll get dated photos and a straight answer on whether you need a repair, have a claim worth filing or need no work right now. Call our Irondale office at (205) 623-2446.

We had an excellent experience with SWAT Roofing & Contracting. Jamie Marsh was our service associate, and he helped explain the entire process, making it very easy to work through with them and our insurance company. Their work is exceptional and quick. Jamie remained responsive through the whole process and I am confident with their fairness of their pricing. Highly recommend.

As someone who has never had their roof replaced, I was completely clueless about the process. Jamie Marsh took the time to thoroughly explain the process and was always available to assist with any questions or concerns along the way. As a bit of a special case, having recently changed insurance companies, I expected some push back from my previous insurer. From meeting with their adjuster, to working around my schedule to determine a replacement date, and being on site to ensure the integrity of not just my property but my neighbors as well, I can't thank Jamie and the SWAT roofing team enough for their guidance and professionalism throughout the process.

He fully explained how the while process would go and consistently stayed in contact and give us periodic updates all the way up until the day the job was done. The crew who did the work on the roof were very professional and helpful and ensured we were able to come and go safely while they worked. Thanks William for all your hard work!!

SWAT Roofing replaced my roof and gutters, painted the outside of the house and also did some minor repairs inside. They did a great job and my roof looks better than ever. Will Martin, the project manager, did a very good job in scheduling and communicating about all aspects of the project. I can definitely recommend SWAT Roofing.

Shout out to William Martin with SWAT Roofing for helping with the insurance claim, having to work with 2 different insurance adjusters to prove the damage for the roof replacement. William also made sure from beginning to end that the work was completed on time and to the standards that SWAT sets for their work ethics, thank you.

Fultondale Roofs Take a Beating from Alabama Weather

Late on January 25, 2021, an EF-3 tornado with winds up to 150 mph moved through Fultondale. The National Weather Service says it started near Chapel Hills Parkway and Ellard Road and grew stronger near the Walker Chapel Road overpass on I-65. It caused damage along Highway 31, Fulton Drive, Lykes Boulevard, Georgetown Lane, Carson Road and New Castle Road, and Fultondale High School was hit too. Then around 4:44 am on November 25, 2025, winds near 60 mph knocked down numerous trees in Fultondale, and some fell on homes.

A falling limb can crack the decking or pull flashing loose while the shingles still look fine from the yard, and hail can bruise shingles the same way. With so many roofs here about five years old, it’s worth finding your warranty papers and getting the roof checked after a storm like the one in November 2025. Our inspection is free, and we’ll tell you plainly when we don’t find anything wrong.

Fultondale Roofing • FAQ

Most days we can get to you the same day you call. Our Irondale office is about twenty-five minutes away on I-20 West, and we cover all of the 35068 zip code, from Chapel Hills to New Castle Road. After an overnight storm our crews head out at first light, and a damaged roof gets a tarp first to keep the rain out.

The City of Fultondale’s Inspections & Permitting office issues them from the Municipal Annex on Old Walker Chapel Road. The city requires a permit for any work over $250, which covers almost every roof job. Each city in Jefferson County runs permits a little differently, so we check the rules for your address and pull the permit before work begins.

Start with your paperwork, because a new roof usually has two warranties, one from the shingle maker and one from the installer. Check how long the workmanship part lasts and whether that company is still in business. Some only cover the original installer’s repairs, so read yours before anyone else touches the roof. After big storms, look for lifted shingles, loose flashing and new ceiling stains, and call us for a free look.

It’s a good idea, even if no tree touched your house. Winds near 60 mph can loosen shingles and break the sticky strip that seals each one down, and a branch that only brushed the roof can crack the decking. From the ground, look for crooked shingles, shingle grit near your downspouts and water spots inside. Our free inspection takes about an hour, and you’ll get dated photos for your insurer.

The age of the roof matters more than the age of the house, so find out when the shingles were last replaced. Signs of wear include shingles curling at the edges, bald spots where the gritty coating is gone and more grit in the gutters each year. Many roofs on older homes still have good years left, and we’ll tell you so when that’s what we find.

Storm damage is often covered, but your policy and deductible decide what gets paid. We work with every major insurance company, and one SWAT project manager stays with your claim from the first call to final payment. That person documents the damage, meets your adjuster at the house and handles the paperwork. Hidden damage we find once the old shingles come off goes to your insurer as a supplement, an update to the claim, so it can be covered too.

We don’t quote prices over the phone, because two houses the same size can need very different work. Our inspector checks the pitch, meaning how steep the roof is, plus the number of shingle layers, the decking and the material you want. Seeing it in person gives you a number that holds, so a change order, an added charge after the old roof comes off, is far less likely. Insurance often pays for storm-damaged roofs minus your deductible, and our roof replacement cost guide lists typical prices by material.

We offer financing through our lending partners GreenSky and GoodLeap, subject to credit approval. It helps when insurance covers only part of the job or an older roof has worn out with no claim to file. Plans include $0 down, fixed rates and no penalty for paying early. Our financing page has the details, and your project manager can go over the options with you.

The City of Fultondale tells residents to check a contractor’s license with the Alabama Home Builders Licensure Board, and we agree. SWAT Roofing holds license #41811 from that board, so you can look us up. We’re insured for residential roofing work in Alabama, and our installers are certified by the shingle makers we use. Our Atlas Pro+ Diamond status puts us among the top 2 percent of U.S. roofers, and every roof we install carries a 10-year workmanship warranty.
