Why Pinson Homeowners Trust SWAT

Pinson City Hall on Main Street is about twenty to thirty minutes from our Alabama office on Alton Road in Irondale, by way of Sweeney Hollow Road. We can usually look at your roof the same day you call and get tarps on quickly after a storm. Pinson now has its own permit office, and we check with it about your job and handle any permit you need.

Pinson became a city in March 2004, but some of it is much older. The Palmerdale Homesteads, inside the city limits, were the first of five New Deal resettlement communities in Alabama, and their homes were finished in 1935. The typical Pinson house is newer, built around 1985. Most homes that age have had at least one new roof, and some have a second layer of shingles over the first, which can hide soft spots in the wood below.

Pinson sits on ridges covered in tall trees, and a falling limb can crack the decking, the wood under your shingles, while the shingles on top still look normal, so we always check it. We also look for hail bruises and loose flashing, the metal that seals around chimneys and walls. You’ll get dated photos and a plain answer on whether the roof needs work, has damage worth a claim or is fine for now. Call our Irondale office at (205) 623-2446 to book a free inspection.

We had an excellent experience with SWAT Roofing & Contracting. Jamie Marsh was our service associate, and he helped explain the entire process, making it very easy to work through with them and our insurance company. Their work is exceptional and quick. Jamie remained responsive through the whole process and I am confident with their fairness of their pricing. Highly recommend.

As someone who has never had their roof replaced, I was completely clueless about the process. Jamie Marsh took the time to thoroughly explain the process and was always available to assist with any questions or concerns along the way. As a bit of a special case, having recently changed insurance companies, I expected some push back from my previous insurer. From meeting with their adjuster, to working around my schedule to determine a replacement date, and being on site to ensure the integrity of not just my property but my neighbors as well, I can't thank Jamie and the SWAT roofing team enough for their guidance and professionalism throughout the process.

SWAT Roofing replaced my roof and gutters, painted the outside of the house and also did some minor repairs inside. They did a great job and my roof looks better than ever. Will Martin, the project manager, did a very good job in scheduling and communicating about all aspects of the project. I can definitely recommend SWAT Roofing.

Shout out to William Martin with SWAT Roofing for helping with the insurance claim, having to work with 2 different insurance adjusters to prove the damage for the roof replacement. William also made sure from beginning to end that the work was completed on time and to the standards that SWAT sets for their work ethics, thank you.

Pinson Roofs Take a Beating from Alabama Weather

On the afternoon of February 26, 2026, the National Weather Service found that a microburst, a sudden blast of straight-line wind rather than a tornado, hit Pinson with winds of 70 to 75 mph. The path ran about a mile from Highway 75 near Rudd School Road toward Silver Lake Road and Pine Street. Up to 15 homes were damaged, mostly by falling trees. Five houses on Cobblestone Court took moderate damage, and trees landed on homes along Church Street, Silver Lake Road and Echo Drive. The weather service also reported hail piling up in town, enough to cause hail fog. Years before that, on January 23, 2012, the EF-3 tornado that struck Center Point crossed Pinson Valley Parkway with winds near 150 mph.

Hail can bruise shingles, and a falling limb can crack the decking or pull flashing loose. Most of that is hard to spot from the driveway. Insurance companies look for proof of when the damage happened, so it pays to get photos taken soon after a storm. The inspection is free, and we’ll tell you straight out when your roof came through fine.

Pinson Roofing • FAQ

We can usually come out the same day you call. The drive from our Irondale office up Sweeney Hollow Road takes about twenty to thirty minutes. We cover the 35126 zip code around City Hall, plus the parts of 35123 and 35215 inside the city. A tree on the roof gets a tarp first to keep rain out, and then we’ll talk through the repair with you.

Pinson recently started its own Permitting & Inspections department, which takes applications at permit@pinsonal.gov. Roofing isn’t listed by name on the city’s form, so we check with the office on whether your job needs a permit and take care of it for you. The form also asks for the contractor’s Alabama and Jefferson County license numbers, and we fill those in.

Your policy sets the deadline, and each insurer has its own window for reporting storm damage, so check yours or call your agent soon. We can inspect the roof now and give you dated photos and notes on what we find, which helps your insurer tie the damage to the February 26 storm.

Hail fog forms when enough hail piles up on warm ground to chill the air right above it. It’s a sign that a lot of hail fell there. The size of the hail in Pinson wasn’t reported, but even small stones can knock the gritty coating, called granules, off shingles and leave soft bruises. Dented gutters or downspouts are a good clue, and we can check the roof itself for free.

Most of the damage in the 2026 storm came from falling trees, so have a tree service look at any dead or leaning trees that hang over your roof. Leaves also collect in the valleys, the low channels where two roof slopes meet, and in gutters, where they hold water against the roof’s edge. Cleaning gutters twice a year and trimming branches back from the roof helps water drain and keeps moss from taking hold.

Damage from wind, hail and storm-blown trees is often covered, but your policy and deductible decide the details. We work with every major insurance company. One SWAT project manager stays with your claim from your first call until the final payment, documenting the damage, meeting your adjuster at the house and handling the paperwork. Damage we find after the old shingles come off goes to your insurer as a supplement, which is an update to the claim, so that repair gets paid for too.

We only give a price after a free in-person inspection, because every roof is different. Size, pitch (how steep the roof is), the number of shingle layers, the decking and the material all change the number. A home from the 1980s may have two layers to tear off instead of one, and that takes more labor. Pricing what the inspector actually sees keeps your quote accurate and helps you avoid surprise change orders after tear-off. Storm damage is often covered by insurance minus your deductible, and our roof replacement cost guide lists typical prices by material.

We offer financing through our lending partners GreenSky and GoodLeap, subject to credit approval. Plans include $0 down, fixed rates and no penalty for paying the loan off early. It can help with the part of a job insurance doesn’t cover or with replacing an older roof on your own. Our financing page explains the options, and your project manager can go over them with you.

Our license comes from the Alabama Home Builders Licensure Board (license #41811), and we’re insured for residential roofing work in Alabama. The installers on your roof are certified by the shingle manufacturers, and our Atlas Pro+ Diamond status puts us among the top 2 percent of roofers in the U.S. Each roof we install comes with our 10-year workmanship warranty. Our Irondale office is also a short drive away if you ever need us again.
