On Workmanship
Moody took the hail. When the February 26, 2026 supercell crossed this corridor, some of its largest stones, up to two inches, fell on St. Clair County, and Moody sat in the path. Months later, the roofs that got pounded that afternoon look exactly like the roofs that did not, and that is the problem. Hail bruises the layer under the granules where nobody can see it. SWAT Roofing inspects for free, our Alabama headquarters is fifteen minutes west in Irondale, we are licensed and insured in Alabama, and (205) 623-2446 gets you a real person, not a phone tree.
Moody is one of the fastest-growing towns on the I-20 corridor, which means most of its roofs are young: subdivision streets built in the last twenty years, whole neighborhoods sharing a birthday. Young roofs hide hail damage best of all, because fresh-looking shingles fool everyone except the leak that shows up two years later. We photograph every slope, drone and on-roof, and tell you straight what the February storm did or did not do to yours.

The February 26, 2026 supercell put Moody in the storm record: hail up to two inches across St. Clair and Jefferson counties, a brief EF-0 tornado through Trussville ten minutes west, a microburst in Pinson, and hail piled deep enough in places to make fog. NWS Birmingham, whose forecast office covers this county, logs severe storms through the I-20 corridor every spring and fall, and most of them never make the news.
Here is the part that matters for your house. Hail does not have to break a window to total a roof. Two-inch stones bruise shingle mat on every slope they hit, the bruises are invisible from the ground, and they turn into leaks on their own schedule, usually after the claim has gotten complicated. A free inspection settles it while the storm date still does the work. If your roof came through clean, we will tell you that too.
Fifteen minutes from our Irondale headquarters down I-20. Moody sits inside our same-day response ring, and after the February storm this corridor became a daily route for us.
The City of Moody issues its own permits, with St. Clair County rules applying outside city limits. We confirm which applies to your address and handle it.
Yes, and it is the most common surprise on this corridor. Hail does not check build dates. Bruised mat on a five-year-old roof quietly costs it a decade of life, and builder warranties almost never cover weather. A free photographed inspection settles it either way.
Probably not. Alabama policies typically give you a year or more to file, and dated damage is dated damage. Our inspection documents what the storm did to your slopes specifically, and if the evidence is there, we help you file properly even months later.
Honestly, you probably cannot tell from the yard. Wind creases shingles up at the ridge where nobody can see it, and hail bruises the layer underneath the granules. The damage shows up later, as a leak, after the claim has gotten harder. Our inspection is free: we photograph every slope from a drone and on the roof, then show you exactly what we found. If there is nothing wrong, we say so.
Yes, start to finish. One project manager photographs the damage, helps you file, meets your adjuster on the roof, and stays on the claim through the final check. You never have to translate between your roofer and your insurance company, because they are talking to the same person: ours.
It depends on the roof: size, pitch, material, and what the decking looks like once we get there. That is why we quote in writing after a free inspection, never over the phone. If a storm caused the damage, insurance often covers replacement and you pay your deductible. Our roof replacement cost guide lays out typical pricing by material so you know the ballpark first.
Yes. When a roof ages out and there is no storm to pay for it, we work with GreenSky & GoodLeap: $0-down options, fixed rates, no prepayment penalties, and you can pre-qualify in minutes without dinging your credit. Details are on our financing page.
